Chris Christie Does Nothing for Romney in NJ


One of the supposed benefits of a presidential running mate is their ability to deliver a state. A well-chosen VP candidate, the theory goes, can turn a swing state or neutralize an opponent’s advantage; at the very least, it can force your opponent to spend more time and money in a state they may have thought in the bag.

This theory is not working out well for Mitt Romney, who has yet to see any of his potential running mates improve his polling in their home states. A Public Policy Polling surveyyesterday found that Kelly Ayotte did nothing to help Romney’s desultory numbers in New Hampshire, while a poll in Ohio found similar results for Rob Portman.
