Romney Campaign Outraises Obama By $35 Million

(Read the full article here: Romney Campaign Outraises Obama By $35 Million)

Team Romney outraised Team Obama $106 million to $71 million in June, making for the highest fundraising numbers yet of the 2012 campaign.

Obama’s campaign upped its haul by $11 million from last month, but that’s nothing compared to the 50% jump made by Romney’s campaign, which leapt from $77 million. It’s the second straight month that Romney has outraised Obama, and he has just about closed the gap between the two treasuries (Obama, who didn’t have a contested primary, got a head start on his Republican challenger).

The numbers reflect the combined totals of the individual campaigns and the party committees. Romney and the RNC also have a joint fundraising committee, Romney Victory, which, yes, sounds like an evil spaceship….Read More

10 Amazing Things You Buy With Your Karl Marx Mastercard

(Read the full article here: 10 Amazing Things You Buy With Your Karl Marx Mastercard)

Finally! Given capitalism’s insuperable ability to absorb everything, including culturalparaphrenalia created specifically to undermine it, it was only a matter of time before we got us a Karl Marx credit card. I know what you’re thinking, “irony WAAAH,” but you already have an MC in your wallet with the logo of Brown University or Reed College, or—god help you—Swarthmore emblazoned on it, so why not just skip the middle man and slap K-Marx’s big ole mug right on your skinny plastic? After all, “If only Karl had made capitalinstead of writing about it,” right? Meanwhile my band, Karl Marx Fucked The Maid, remains grossly unappreciated… Read More.

John McCain Has A Problem With Super PAC Donors, Like The One Who Just Donated $10 Mil to Mitt Romney

(Read More Here: John McCain Has A Problem With Super PAC Donors, Like The One Who Just Donated $10 Mil to Mitt Romney)

We owe offerings to all gods Allah through Zeus every time former presidential candidate John McCain opens his mavericky mouth. The last time it happened, the Mitt Romney surrogate went on an impromptu rant against Super PACs, as in the very Super PACs that were funding Mitt Romney’s primary campaign. It wasn’t quite Obama-birth-certificateawkward, but it was awkward.

Today, the Mitt Romney surrogate went on an impromptu rant against…Super PACs, this time the specific donor who’s specifically giving to Mitt Romney’s campaign. Here’s McCain on PBS’ News Hour, complaining of the “foreign money” coming into Romney’s campaign viaSheldon Adelson’s $10 million contribution:… Read More.

Sheldon Adelson Gives $10 Million To Mitt Romney Super PAC

(Read the full article here: Sheldon Adelson Gives $10 Million To Mitt Romney Super PAC)

The conservative billionaire and casino mogul Sheldon Adelson is donating $10 million to Restore Our Future, one of the super PACs supporting Mitt Romney. This constitutes the largest single donation to the campaign of the Republican presidential nominee.

Early in the primary season, Adelson funneled money –reportedly $21 million – into Newt Gingrich’s flailing campaign, though Adelson stopped writing checks when it became obvious that Gingrich wouldn’t be able to secure his party’s nomination. Why would anyone give Gingrich any money, let alone a couple dozen million dollars?.. Read More

One-man Super PAC Takes on Obama

Can one person determine the outcome of an election? Real Leader PAC, an investment firm out of Florida, is trying to do just that.

Supposedly underwritten by a $250,000 donation from William Lee Hanley, Jr., the chairman of Lexington Management Group Inc., Real Leader PAC has spent an estimated $65,810 airing three ads nearly 200 times in Youngstown, OH, and Johnstown, PA, two towns essential for Obama’s reelection bid.

The ads have concise messages bent on driving down Obama’s turnout in the two regions, both of which Obama lost to Hillary Clinton in the 2008 primaries. In one ad, an anonymous person praises former president Bill Clinton, saying, “I think Bill Clinton could teach Mr. Obama a lot about leadership.” (Consider, just for one second, Clinton leading Obama through a Powerpoint presentation on leadership.)

Sarah Palin’s Super PAC Raises $1 Million

But Palin, perhaps because of her stewardship of a state so isolated from the rest of the nation, understands that a significant portion of policy battles are won or lost at congressional levels, not in the White House. Her money will likely be directed toward specially picked House and Senate races in 2012, where it could have an outsized influence….Read More

Theil, a wealthy international financier is also a gay libertarian and, wait for it, a member of the steering committee of the Bilderberg Group! … (Here is a tissue so you can get that Ron Paul supporter brains that just exploded all over you out of your shirt. I should have warned you first. Sorry…Read More
